LIFE AFTER TWISTED RED CROSS AND THE BEGINNING OF RMD RECORDS & PRODUCTION
When their label TWISTED RED CROSS folded, the band decided to put up their own record label RARE MUSIC DISTRIBUTOR (RMD Records- a brainchild of Charlie Bong Espiritu) and ROTTEN RULES INC. (RRI Records – which handled Foreign distribution of its releases around the globe, manage by Senor Rotten ). In the beginning the label was created only to handle PHIL.VIOLATORS album releases, but soon after it also became an important part of the whole –pinoy underground/alternative music scene in the early 1990’s by subsequently releasing various compilation album projects featuring up and coming new Bands in the scene.
Today, RMD continues to be a vehicle for punk & other alternative independent bands AS A PRODUCTION OUTFIT.. they organize Concerts, Club Gigs, & regular Bar Tours under its new monicker RARE MUSIC PRODUCTIONS.
In the 9o’s, the bands music was progressing and was no longer limited to Punk & Hardcore. The band’s humongous hit ‘SIKAT NA SI PEDRO’ finally catapulted PHIL.VIOLATORS into the mainstream. And by the mid- 1990’s They manage to achieved Major Label success w/o compromising their underground roots by continuing to produce socially relevant hit songs like ‘IPAKO SA KRUS’, HOY! HOY! HOY!’,’BATANG RILES’ ‘DAWNCELIA’,FRAME-UP,’KILOS, BALANSE, SANDALI, REBELDE among others…and for the first time PHIL.VIOLATORS music was being embraced by everyone! They no longer belong to their hardcore PUNK followers exclusively, but to mainstream rock music fans all over the country as well. Their music was now being played widely on Radio stations that wouldnt touch them 5 yrs ago.,They appeared on Television constantly and were being printed in various local music magazines ...They began to tour the country along with their crew(THE ALCOHOLIC ROAD CREW & SPEED CREW - w/c consist of longtime friends & RMD Staff .) from Batangas to Bulacan, Marinduque and Davao the demand for their appearance grew intensively thru the mid 90's...Their song ‘LAHAT SA TROPA’(another PHILVIO mega-hit!) was even featured in a local pinoy cult movie entitled ‘THE ROLLER BOYS’. They were breaking new barriers and was being hailed as heroes of the underground when they finally conquered and played ARANETA COLLISEUM.(one of the most prestigous venue in the Philippines) The first Punk band ever to do so. PHILIPPINE VIOLATORS the most notorious underground band in the land, challenged the musical status quo and WON
